My thoughts as an artist
The artist, Eva Hoven.
I was born in Norway and have lived in different parts of the world along the way. I am very grateful for being able to experience the diversity in cultures in the countries I have been living in. I believe this has made me a stronger and more reflected artist.
After being an artist for almost 20 years, I got my certificate of achievement at Glassell school of art, MFAH, where I got my major in painting, spring 2020. I have had my studio at Sawyer Yards, Houston, Texas, for several years. The last 3 years I have been focusing on studying ceramics as Glassell School of Art, MFAH. I have for a while been researching the shape of the vessel, and added glazes inspired by my finds in nature.
Lately I have been transferring the texture inspired by nature onto human ceramic heads. I call this series "Human Nature".
I am reflecting on how our surroundings are effecting our human brain. The colors that I'm adding on the human skin, is a way of showing how we are effected one way or the other by our experience. The colors are emphasizing how complex the human nature is, and that we are all different in a unique way. Despite all our experience/colors, we are all beautiful and delicate in our own right.
My family and I moved back to our mother country in March 2022. I'm now working on several projects. I'm excited about a show I was invited to bye Lise Schønberg and Flekkefjord kunstforening in Flekkefjord, Norway. Flekkefjord kunstforening and Galleri Guldbrandsen has been hosting the show, "Inntrykk og uttrykk" from June 11 till 27th of August 2022.
Protestfestivalen 2022 invited me to be the artist of the year. The show will be at the Town Hall in Kristiansand 3. of September this year.
