I was born in Norway and have been living in different countries along the way, including 11 years in Houston. I believe living in different parts of the world makes it easier for me to compare the different societies I have been living in. As an educated medical nurse, I’m throughly engaged in the well being of the human race. I’m trying to show this in my art work. In combination with colors, patterns and symbols, a single word can be very powerful and full of meaning. It can even give a different emotion from one person to another. This is what I search for in my pieces, to tell a story that awakens emotions and creates a dialogue.
In this series, "my take on life using words" I have been working on 8 larger pieces, finding inspiration in what’s going on around us in society. Challenging subjects like homelessness, the veteran’s situation, school shootings, the conflict on the border between The US and Mexico, climate changes and the changes in the political climate in the US, what impact the food industry is having on our health status, are some of the subjects I have being focusing on.
